The Rural Rowville Fire Brigade was formed in May 1942. It consisted of approximately 14 members. They were provided with 3 beaters, 2 knapsacks, 2 shovels and 3 rakes.

Little is known over the next few years during World War II.

In 1946 the brigade elected new officers and in 1948 it acquired its first major fire-fighting apparatus consisting of a trailer & tank from the CFA and the brigade purchased it's own pump and motor. The equipment was towed by member's private vehicles. Read more...

In 1959 there were between 20 and 30 members and in 1965 the Knox Fire Brigade group was formed. This group fought the major fires in the Dandenong Ranges.
