CFA fights two fires in Rowville

6th February 2013

A FIRE crews have contained one of two fires near Stud Rd in Rowville.

A spokesman at the State Control Centre told Leader the two fires were in "close proximity" to each other at the end of Stud Rd, also known as the Dandenong Valley Highway.

The larger fire, which has now been contained, is in the police paddocks and was initially reported as being about 1ha in size.

But the spokesman said the size had now been downgraded to about 0.2ha and the actual fire site was "difficult to ascertain".

Fires crews were working to contain the smaller grass fire, near Brady Rd, just before 6pm.

The spokesman said that fire was 50m by 50m in size.

He said there was no threat to property but there was smoke in the area.

Both fires were reported about 4.45pm.

It is unclear how many trucks were fighting the fires or how the fires started.
