Help the Rowville Fire Brigade get the wet stuff on the hot stuff - Adopt A Hydrant!

LOCATED ON OR NEAR NATURE STRIPS THROUGHOUT THE AREA ARE FIRE PLUGS (GROUND BALL) OR L-TYPE (PILLAR BALL) FIRE HYDRANTS.

Should a fire break out it is essential that firefighters can gain access to these plugs and hydrants to ensure an adequate supply of water.

Whilst we do hydrant checks ourselves regularly, YOU too can help. As a resident you can help by "adopting" the hydrant(s) nearest your property.

Scroll down the page to see what you can do to help. It could help save your house!

HERE IS WHAT YOU CAN DO:

* Please keep grass and soil clear from the top of the ground ball covers and do not landscape over them.

* Keep bushes and undergrowth clear from around the hydrant.

* Also, ensure that no vehicle parks over the top, restricting access.

You can help by making sure all the above are in place and the hydrant is servicable.

If the post, cover or road marker is missing or if there are any faults or damage to your ‘adopted‘ fire hydrant -

CALL KNOX COUNCIL ON: 03 9298 8000

CALL: SOUTH EAST WATER ON - 131 694 or after hours emergency on: 132 812

NOTE: The Councils are responsible for ensuring that the road markers, covers and posts are in place and that inside the pit is clean to allow the Emergency Responders to access the water mains quickly. Leaks and faults are the responsibility of Melbourne Water.
